PRESS RELEASE: GREENVILLE, SC (March 4, 2010) - Fatz Cafe operating partner, Bruce Dressler, was recently named as Restaurant Manager of the Year by the South Carolina Hospitality Association. Created more than 50 years ago, the Restaurant Manger of the Year award is one of several Stars of the Industry awards which recognize the accomplishments of individuals in South Carolina's hospitality industry.
Dressler has been employed by Fatz Cafe for eight years. Initially, he began as a general manager and, after working his way through various positions, is currently an operating partner at the Irmo, SC restaurant, located at 7420 Broad River Road.
The areas Dressler dedicates his time to include local fundraising efforts, educational projects and building relationships with his guests.
Dressler's list of accomplishments is extensive. For example, he created a pancake breakfast fundraiser for the sole purpose of helping his community. Dressler also partnered with The United Way of the Midlands to raise $3,000. In fact, Dressler partnered with 17 local organizations throughout 2009.
In addition to dedicating his time to community organizations, Dressler always seeks ways to enhance his client's experiences at the Irmo location by offering great food and service, while still managing the full-service restaurant. One of Dressler's regular patrons was in need of a kidney transplant. Through partnering with the customer's church, they raised $1,900 for the procedure while working with the National Transplant Assistance Fund.
Dressler also serves on the Scholastic Improvement Council for River Springs Elementary in Irmo. He was recently recognized by the Lexington-Richland 5 school board as an Outstanding Business Partner. In addition to fundraising efforts at Fatz Cafe, Dressler has also spent time in many Lexington-Richland 5 schools. The Gold Star Award program allows teachers to reward students with Fatz Cafe gift certificates. Last year, Dressler hand-delivered letters with gift certificates to students in 11 Lexington-Richland 5 schools. Dressler also assisted in fundraising for school programs as Dutch Fork High School's Silver Spirit marching band.
"I have observed Bruce's involvement in a variety of projects that demonstrate his continuing commitment to successfully serving the community, his associates and our company. He has exemplified what an Operating Partner is and has served his community well," says Richie Cannon, Chief Operating Officer of Cafe Enterprises.
When asked about being recognized by this honor, Dressler stated, "I am very appreciative of this award. I simply believe service to others is the rent we pay for our room on this earth."
